Objectives

1. Primary Health Objective To improve maternal and child health: The overarching goal is to reduce mortality rates for mothers and unborn children by ensuring positive pregnancy outcomes. To detect life-threatening conditions: Specifically, training midwives to identify conditions like placenta previa early enough to allow for life-saving interventions (such as C-sections). 2. Access and Equity Objectives To provide local ultrasound access: To ensure pregnant women and girls can receive sonographies within their own community or district without being referred to distant facilities. To reduce financial and physical burdens: To eliminate the need for families to travel long distances over rough terrain, which is both expensive and physically dangerous for the mother and baby. To achieve Universal Health Coverage: Aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 3, ensuring that all individuals receive needed health services without suffering financial or physical hardship. 3. Capacity Building and Technology To train frontline healthcare workers: Conducting specialized obstetrics ultrasound training for seven midwives and five nurses to assess gestation, fetal viability, and delivery dates. To modernize rural healthcare: Introducing portable "Butterfly" handheld ultrasound technology and tablets to provide prompt and accurate diagnoses in rural settings. To establish a support network: Partnering with specialists (gynecologists and sonographers) to assist with image interpretation and ongoing capacity building for local health workers.
