In the rural Adaklu District of Ghana, access to essential maternal healthcare services remains a significant challenge. Objectives

Recognizing this critical healthcare gap, the Give Right Foundation partnered with Friends of Adaklu to launch a maternal health initiative aimed at expanding access to ultrasound services throughout the district.

In January 2024, the Foundation organized specialized ultrasound training for healthcare professionals at the EP Mimi Health Center. Seven midwives and five nurses received hands-on training in pregnancy assessment, fetal viability, placental evaluation, estimated delivery-date determination, and identification of fetal structures and positioning.

To support the training, the Give Right Foundation donated a Butterfly handheld ultrasound device and tablet technology to the health center. This portable equipment enables healthcare providers to conduct ultrasound examinations directly within the community, significantly improving access to prenatal care for expectant mothers.

The project has strengthened the capacity of local healthcare providers, reduced barriers to essential maternal healthcare services, and improved pregnancy monitoring for women throughout the district. Most importantly, it has increased the likelihood of healthier outcomes for mothers and their babies while reducing the financial burden associated with seeking specialized care.

Through initiatives such as this, the Give Right Foundation continues to advance its mission of promoting health, education, and sustainable community development around the world.
